Assignment #3

After one week of tweeting (http://twitter.com/cdalbers), I realized how twitter is mobile and reliable. Twitter is easy to use and lets your friends find out about activities are going on in your life. I always thought twitter was just about telling people what you are eating for lunch, but I never new it could be used for news and media uses. I believe twitter became so popular because people could get it for their mobile deivces.

I read the article on six degrees of seperation. The weird thing is my room mates friends girlfriend, knows a girl from my class. Six degrees of seperation is when you know a friend, and that friend knows a friend, and so on until one of the friends is someone you know. A U.S. psychologist name Stanley Milgram conducted a study and found that the average number of steps from you to your distant friend is 5.5 to 6. (http://www.sysomos.com/insidetwitter/sixdegrees/)

One use I think for using twitter in the future is keeping up with my fellow hixsons! Even though I think I will rarely use twitter in the future, it will be nice to keep up with the wonderful people I have met from the Hixson program. =p

  1. The six degrees of separation seems crazy when you first read it, but it is kind of amazing to see how much that happens in life. Such a small world.

  5. I agree! I never knew Twitter could be used for keeping up to date on news and politics, and not just a lunch update.

  6. Not to long ago I was having a discussion with a professor about the six degrees of separation. Its kind of fun when you put it to the test.
